ABOUT US

Refugee Women's Association was initiated by Parvin Paidar at World University Service in 1993 as a result of the gap in the provision of customised training and culturally sensitive advice and guidance for refugee women.

Initially, RWA only provided support to refugee women living in Hackney but as the years passed, the demand for such a specialist service became apparent and we were able to extend our support to refugee women throughout Greater London.

In 1995, RWA was formally launched as an independent organisation in the vibrant and multicultural heart of Dalston, developing new services in response to the needs of our clients. We are a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee.

Our dedicated team consists of mostly women who are from refugee and migrant backgrounds who work tirelessly to give others better futures. Our mission is to empower and enable refugee, migrant and asylum seeking women and their families with their journey to integration in London.

We provide specialist information, advice and guidance to help lift the barriers they face which prevent them from taking charge of their futures. Throughout the years our door has been open to tens of thousands of women and families who, without our support may not have had any future at all.
